Community Living

UrbanReachSTL's Director of Programming Spent 3 years living in the neighborhood as a missionary, to fully know and love this community well.

She has been an integral part in creating trust and relationships with the community on a daily basis. A grandmother in the neighborhood said to her, "You know, I think about you a lot. You don't have to live in this neighborhood but you do."

Some of the moments that have been shared in her apartment:

It provided a safe place when a teen girl was scared to go home.

It provided a place for young men in the community to come for a weekly Bible study. Two of those men have been killed a 1 in prison for life.

It provided a place for a 6-year-old to come blow out candles on cake on his birthday, for the first time in his life.

It provided a safe place for a mom and her kids to sleep after her boyfriend had been shot and killed.

It provides a place for the community to come every Thursday in the summer to share a family meal together.

It provides a place for children to come get a meal if they do not have any food in their home.

It provides a place for children to come get help with their homework.

It provides a place for young girls and young women to come get mentored.

It provides a place for place for children to feel safe, even for a short amount of time in the day.
